Probably one of the greatest obstacles to maintaining good relationships is the expectation so often placed on others. Believing someone should do a certain thing, say a certain thing, or be a particular way in a given situation often leads to undue criticism, and dissatisfaction. It is very unfortunate that we so often set up a measuring stick against our brothers and sisters in Christ that is base more upon personal preference, than upon the Word of God. We do this in the church--and we do this in our closest relationships. We should be encouraging others to become exactly what God wants, but what we want often clouds our thinking. When we consider others, let’s first consider asking God to correct our attitudes, so that we can love others for who they are now--and pray for them that God will continue to shape them as He desires.
